Muchelney Abbey Guidebook

This guidebook gives a comprehensive tour and history of Muchelney Abbey and brings centuries of monastic activity and building to life through spectacular photographs and reconstructions, as well as historical images, and maps and plans. First recorded in the late seventh century, the abbey was abandoned in the ninth century, but found again in 939. Special features draw on the latest research to explore a range of different aspects of the site, such as the abbey’s books, health and diet, and the elaborately carved medieval stonework that once decorated the buildings.
